Steven Logan, 30 of Richardson Street, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court where he did not apply for bail.
He was remanded in custody until a committal mention on June 1 charged with six offences including the high-end offence of trafficking a commercial quantity of ice.
That charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years’ imprisonment.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose heard it was Mr Logan’s first time in custody and he was withdrawing from the use of ice.
He is also to be assessed for an undisclosed serious medical condition.
Another man, also arrested during the police raid at Mr Logan’s home on Friday, was released on bail.
Scott Lardner, 26, previously of Narrawong and now Heath Road, Gorae West, was bailed to appear in the Portland Magistrates Court on March 27.
He was charged with possessing ice and a tazer.
His bail conditions include an overnight curfew and to report to police on Mondays.
Mr Lardner has no prior court appearances and he will also be assessed to take part in the Court Integrated Services Program, which supports people on bail.
His two mobile phones are yet to be analysed by police officers.
Saturday: TWO Portland district men will appear in Warrnambool court on Monday after being caught with 702 grams of ice valued at about $350,000.
Detective Sergeant Jason von Tunk, of the Portland police crime investigation unit, said CIU investigators and divisional response unit officers raided a home in Portland's Richardson Street on Friday afternoon.
He said a warrant was executed at 3.30pm and officers located two imitation machine guns, a taser, an extendable baton and knuckle dusters.
One man was found in possession of 696 grams of crystal methyl aphetamine and the other with six grams.
Police also located and seized $14,800 in cash.
A Portland man aged 30 and a 26-year-old man from Narrawong were arrested.
They were interviewed, charged and then remanded in custody by a bail justice to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday.
They were charged with trafficking and possessing ice, possessing the proceeds of crime and weapons offences.
Detective Sergeant von Tunk said it was an excellent result after an in-depth operation.
"We acted on intelligence received and finished with an excellent whack," he said.
