Library officer Elaine Day said the library now opened until 6pm on Wednesday and Friday and feedback had been positive.
“We’ve always closed at 4.30pm which doesn’t work in this day and age,” Mrs Day said.
“The good thing is people are arriving at 4.15pm and staying longer because they can leave later. There’s been about a dozen more people coming after the original closing time. Hopefully it will continue to grow.”
The change, which came into effect on January 29, saw the closure of the library on Wednesday mornings to enable extension later in the day.
The opening hours are Monday 10am-1pm/1.30pm-4.30pm, Wednesday 1.30pm-6pm, Friday 10am-1pm/1.30pm-6pm and Saturday 10am-noon.
