Brenton Edgar, 23, previously of Gilchrist Street, Shepparton, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to drink driving.
On top of being banned from driving for 38 months, he was fined $1500.
Edgar has an accident in Shepparton on September 24 last year after clipping a round-about and then crashing.
He was soon after seen driving down the wrong side of the road, police saw him get out of his car and he recorded an alcohol reading of .191.
Edgar told police he had gone to get more alcohol after drinking red wine and mid-strength beer.
He said he had not drunk alcohol since the accident and was now living and working in Warrnambool
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said Edgar had a prior court appearance for drug impaired driving and he was precisely the sort of person who should not be on the roads.
"If you come back for similar offending you will be virtually sentencing yourself to a term of imprisonment," she told Edgar.
