Colac’s Tayla Robertson was the 100th person employed through Westvic Staffing Solutions as part of its ambitious campaign.
She will start her new education support traineeship at Sacred Heart Primary School on Monday.
Ms Robertson, 18, said she was excited by the new job opportunity.
“I’ll be helping the PE teacher with her classes and in the classes occasionally,” she said.
“Ultimately I’d like to do aged care and this will be a good way of getting started.
“I’m a bit nervous but I’m looking forward to it.”
Westvic Staffing Solutions’ 200 Jobs in 100 Days campaign doubles the target of previous two years.
Apprenticeship Employment Network operations manager Brendan Hawkins said the campaign was progressing strongly.
“We’re ahead of where we were this time last year,” he said.
“Traditionally February is a very busy month for us, so with terrific support from the community we’re on track to reach 200.”
Mr Hawkins said the campaign highlighted apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities across south-west Victoria.
“We’re really happy to share this milestone with Sacred Heart Primary School which has had a number of trainees employed through Westvic Staffing Solutions over the years,” he said.
Ms Robertson, who worked for about four years at Colac Cinemas while completing her schooling, said Westvic Staffing Solutions had been a great help in finding her a traineeship.
The new positions have been found across a broad cross-section, including children’s services, education support, hospitality, business and automotive and trade-related apprenticeships.
The campaign is due to end in late February.
It was launched on Saturday, November 18 at The Emmanuel Centre in Warrnambool.
The 200 jobs target is specifically for apprenticeships and traineeships and is in addition to Westvic Staffing Solutions’ job placements in other areas.
The campaign found 100 people jobs over 100 days last year.
The employment initiative increased its target this year to 200.
