Essendon-Maribyrnong Park – the home of Western Waves exports Emma Kearney and Georgia Wareham – will face off against Dandenong in a Twenty20 fixture on February 3.
It will follow a female under 17 battle between Warrnambool and Hamilton and is a part of the Hamilton Women’s Cricket Association 20-year anniversary celebrations.
Hamilton and District Cricket Association president Lloyd Ilet said a bumper crowd was predicted to descend on the ground for the fixture.
“It’s a very high standard. It’s premier cricket – just one level down from first class and even feeds the Australian teams,” Ilet said.
“We expect it will be very strong competition and hope the weather just holds off for us.”
Ilet said his association had a proud history of building women’s cricket at grassroots level. “We’re very pleased with how it’s turned out,” he said. The match begins at 3pm.
