Tucking in
American-based speedway legend Brooke Tatnell made the most of a flying three-week trip home to Australia, rolling through the canteen line for a sausage roll as he prepared for Sunday’s A-Main. The home-grown delicacy almost did the trick with Tatnell scoring a podium finish in the feature event.
Boss helps out
Teamwork is the key to any successful event. Premier Speedway general manager David Mills adhered to this motto and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty, helping pick up rubbish on Monday.
Breakthrough
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Tasmanian driver Tim Hutchins is the epitome of determination and was rewarded on Sunday when he made the Classic A-Main after more than 15 attempts. His Facebook page, Hutchins Motorsport 17, was quick to let his fans know of his achievement. “Tim pulled in on lap 31 after being passed by the leader as he didn’t want to be the muppet to take a leader out of the Classic,” it read. “Out of 110 cars we have finished 18th overall.”
That’s racing
South Australian driver Aidan Hall rode an emotional rollercoaster. He made the Classic finale only to think engine issues would rule him out. He managed to get a start but did not finish. He’s been loaned a motor for the Australian titles.
