Roosters coach Mathew Buck believes Paddy Anderson “can turn games on their heads” and Jock Blair could “take the competition by storm”.
Buck said the duo was at different stages in the their development but carried x-factor in equal measure and would help drive the Roosters’ Hampden league premiership tilt.
“They are great South people,” he said.
“Those two in particular are the heart-and-soul of the joint. I really love coaching both of them.”
Buck said Blair complemented his on-field flair with off-field commitment.
“He works hard away from football training which in the end leads to how he can improve in football I think,” he said.
“He’s a great listener, he’s improved so much over the last few years, it’s been staggering, and I expect him to again.
“I think he will play interleague footy this year and I won’t be surprised if he takes the competition by storm.”
Buck said Anderson was learning to deal with opposition pressure and was building his aerobic capacity as he plots more time in the midfield.
“Paddy is a little bit the other way in terms of he’s probably already arrived as a Hampden league footballer and teams are already wary of what he can do,” he said.
“Paddy’s got some challenges around ‘how can I now play when another team is putting real focus into me’.
“It is a bit of a maturity thing but it’s something he’s certainly aware of and will certainly do.
“His ability to turn games on their heads is amazing. I think back to round two at Koroit where he kicked five goals and was just remarkable.
“That side of his game is amazing, but he needs to be able to break the shackles of a tag.”
