Portland District Health Chief Executive Officer Chris Giles has confirmed that the three people injured in a Nelson crash on Monday were taken to the hospital by ambulance and treated. They were not admitted to hospital.
Tuesday, 3.30pm
Investigations into a three-car crash at Nelson are ongoing as police work to determine what happened.
Portland Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Nathan Cashion said a Major Collision Investigation Unit member was flown from Melbourne and arrived at 8.30pm Monday to photograph the site in daylight.
More members from the Major Collision Investigation Unit and the Collision Investigation Reconstruction Unit arrived at 11pm.
He said Portland police and Highway Patrol members joined them on scene until 4.30am when the Portland – Nelson Road was reopened to traffic.
When asked if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash Acting Sergeant Cashion said it was “undetermined at the moment.”
He said a number of emergency service units responded to the incident including Casterton, Portland, Heywood and Dartmoor police, Portland and Dartmoor SES, Nelson CFA and the South Australian Ambulance Service.

Two teenagers were among the people taken to hospital following a three-car crash at Nelson on Monday.
A man died in the accident which occurred after 3pm on the Portland-Nelson Road.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said on Tuesday that three people were taken to the Portland hospital.
“Paramedics attended a multi-vehicle collision involving a car rollover on the Portland-Nelson Road at Nelson,” she said.
These included a teenage boy who was taken to hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries, a teenage girl in a stable condition with bruising and a man aged in his 50s with minor hand and head injuries.
“Multiple other patients were assessed at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.”

The Portland – Nelson Road has reopened to traffic following a three – car crash on Monday.
Monday, 6.20pm
A man has died after he was involved in a three-car accident in Nelson.
The incident occurred on the Portland-Nelson Road on Monday just after 3pm.
The yet-to-be identified man in one of the vehicles died at the scene and his female passenger has non-life threatening injuries.
Seven people from the other two cars were assessed by emergency services personnel but none are believed to have life-threatening injuries.
The Portland-Nelson Road was closed on Monday afternoon in both directions 2-3 kilometres west of Johnsons Road. It is expected to be closed for some time.
