The draft Alpine National Parks feral horse strategic action plan, now out for public comment, details how the Victorian government intends to deal with the ??????critical levels'' of horses between 2018 and 2020.
There are about 60 to 80 feral horses who call the Bogong High Plains home.
"Their hard hooves cause serious damage to the sensitive alpine environment," the report stated.
"Without intervention, their impacts will cause severe long-term harm to the park's special endangered native alpine wildlife and plant species."
The program will focus on high-value natural assets such as specific plants which have adapted to prolonged snow cover in isolated areas of the Bogong High Plains.
The government is inviting reponses from the public who can make their opinions known here.
