Koroit police Sergeant Pat Day said the car was travelling south on Caramut Road and pulled up just before Greens Lane at 12.30am.
“The car has done a 90 metre burn out which was heard by residents and shortly after the grass on the side of the road caught fire,” Sergeant Pat Day said. “It burnt a section of grass on the side of the road and spread into a paddock.”
The fire burnt an area of 150 metres by 30 metres.
He said CFA officers had to cut the fence to access the paddock and extinguish the fire.
“There’s been a bit of burnout activity in the Winslow\ Woolsthorpe area. There’s been reports of a black ute with a hard cover doing burnouts in the area.”
Sergeant Day urged anyone who hears or sees a car doing a burnout to ring 000. He said people could also film the incident on their phone or take down the numberplate if safe to do so and report it to police.
