A WARRNAMBOOL 17-year-old youth has been flown to hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain after a vicious assault by a gang of young men.

Warrnambool police Acting Sergeant Lachlan Barr said there was an incident about 11.30pm Saturday night at the intersection of Cramer and Banyan street, near the top of the Banyan Street hill.
He said three youths, two boys and a girl, were walking south on Cramer Street when they were abused by five or six men believed to be aged in their early 20s.
There was a physical altercation and a 17-year-old boy suffered a fractured skull, serious eye injuries and bleeding on the brain.
He was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Warrnambool police crime investigation unit detectives are investigating the incident and requested anyone with information contact the Warrnambool police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
