Lady Bay Kennel Club secretary Rosie Hawkins said up to 20 gazebos were either slashed or trampled on, and grooming tables were thrown on to the roof at Friendly Societies’ Park.
Ms Hawkins said stock and table displays – including the photographer and dog food vendors’ stalls - had also been tampered with sometime between 9pm Saturday and 7am Sunday. “It left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths,” she said.
“It’s really disappointing.”
Ms Hawkins said the club was worried the Warrnambool event would lose entries next year because of the attack.
“It’s just awful that you can’t run an event in town,” she said.
Ms Hawkins said the gazebos, worth about $300 each, were owned by different individuals and many were so badly bent out of shape they would have to be replaced before next weekend when dog owners travel to other events across the state.
