Wilde praised the winning ride by under-rated jockey Jarrod Fry in the feature race at the once-a-year meeting which was celebrating 150 years of racing at Camperdown.
“Floral Fever deserved the win,” he said.
“It was a great ride by Jarrod from that barrier.
“Floral Fever drew wide barriers at his last two runs in the Woodford and Koroit Cups and that never helped his chances in either race, but he still ran well with a second and third placing.
“He loomed up in the Koroit Cup but had done a bit of work in the run and it just told in the end. I’m thinking his best distance may by 1600 metre not the 1700 that he ran at Woodford and Koroit.”
Wilde, who also has a satellite stable at Ballarat said Floral Fever may head to Melbourne for his next start.
“We’ll try and find a nice race in town for Floral Fever,” he said.
“His owner Danny Rose bred Floral Fever and has his dam.
“The more races Floral Fever can win boosts the value of his dam and other progeny out of the mare.”
