IT WAS a doubly successful day for Hamish Rowland and Sarah Flaherty as they took out the final leg and overall honours at the Shipwreck Coast Swim Series in Port Campbell on Saturday.

Rowland, 17, claimed his third Port Campbell leg win and series crown, while Flaherty, 16, claiming her first overall line and series win.
Rowland, who is from Melbourne, was happy with his swim and on securing the series win, but he mentioned that the conditions for the final leg were tricky.
“It was nice and flat going out and then once you were out the back the swell was pretty big and it became pretty challenging,” he said.
“It got confusing with the buoys and the waves when your out the back so it was hard to keep on track.
“Then when in the bay you got sucked into the middle a lot going, which made me look up a little bit more than I would have liked.”
Flaherty was delighted about securing her first win.
“I'm pretty happy, there was some older girls who could have won the series, but didn't do all three swims”, the Warrnambool resident said.
“You just have to take your wins, and I’m happy about this one.”
Flaherty was pleased her plan to negate the rough conditions outside the bay played out.
“I was happy coming back in as I went wide, kept the buoys on my right hand side and that kept me on track.” she said.
