WARRNAMBOOL mare One For Later will appreciate the drop back to mares company when she runs in a $120,000 race over 2000 metres at Flemington on Saturday, according to her trainer Alan Peterson.

One For Later ran third in the Penshurst Cup on Boxing Day before finishing second in a restricted race over 3000 metres at Warrnambool on December 31.
Peterson, a former top jockey in the south-west said One For Later had been freshened for the Flemington run following the Warrnambool effort late last month.
“She hasn’t done much work since her 3000 metre run,” he said.
“She had two tough runs in five days. We eased her work up following the Warrnambool run last month as we knew we wanted her to run over the 2000 metres at Flemington.
“She’s going really well. I’m sure she’ll enjoy running in mares class again. I think she’ll give a bit of cheek. There’s a few good mares in the race but if she runs third or fourth I’ll be really happy.”
Symon Wilde’s honest mare Royal Applause will be one of her rivals on Saturday.
Peterson said One For Later’s run following the Flemington effort will be in a $40,000 race over 3000 metres at Moonee Valley on February 2.
Brave Tango makes his return to racing for former Crossley trainer Mitch Freedman in the $250,000 Inglis Dash over 1100 metres.
Freedman, who now trains at Ballarat saddled up Brave Tango for two wins at Donald and Geelong from three starts in the spring.
