Brenton Kenna, 32, of Baker Grove, did not apply for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday morning and was remanded in custody until February 5.
Mr Kenna is withdrawing from ice use and suffers anxiety and depression.
Police said Mr Kenna was pulled over by officers on January 2 in Warrnambool’s Wanstead Street.
The number plates on his maroon Hyundai were false and had been stolen from Warrnambool Mazda.
Officers also found prescription medication Kapanol and a tomahawk in the boot of the car.
Mr Kenna was charged and bailed with strict conditions.
On August 9 last year customs officers in Sydney intercepted a package from Berlin, Germany, addressed to Mr Kenna.
The package went through an x-ray machine and was a Umarex Walter P22 9mm handgun.
At 12.30am on Friday, January 19, police raided Mr Kenna’s home and found .41 grams of ice, five shotgun shells, a samurai sword, knuckledusters and a sawn-off .22 rifle under the mattress of Mr Kenna’s bed.
Police opposed bail in court saying Mr Kenna was an unacceptable risk of continuing to offend.
EARLIER: A WARRNAMBOOL man has been charged with weapons and drug offences after police found a sawn-off .22 rifle in a raid early this morning.
Warrnambool police Sergeant Kim Wheeler said the warrant was executed soon after midnight.
She said the sawn-off .22 was located along with shotgun ammunition, a small amount of ice and other weapons.
The man, who was recently bailed after being charged with other offences, has been now charged with breaching bail and a range of firearms, ammunition, weapons and drug offences.
“In addition he has also been charged with attempted to import a handgun from Germany which was intercepted by customs officials last year,” she said.
The man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court for a bail/remand hearing on Friday.
