Camperdown Turf Club president Laurie Hickey said Saturday’s event would be bigger and better than ever with an after party and children’s entertainment among the activities planned.
“Camperdown is increasingly becoming one of those destination race meetings that people from outside the immediate community want to come to,” he said.
The after party will kick off after the last race, with live music and the bar open until 8pm.
“We think this will be a huge success, with people able to kick on with their celebrations at the end of the race meeting,” Mr Hickey said.
“We’ve even got a Kids Corner with Chris Humfrey’s Wild Action animal show, as well as showbags, rides and sporting activities. It’s going to be huge.”

Legendary local jockey Neville “Nifty” Wilson and netballer Sarah Wall will be the 2018 ambassadors.
While he retired in 2012, Wilson has many fond memories of racing on the Camperdown track.
“During my riding career, I only missed a race meet at Camperdown a couple of times due to injury and one for suspension. I’d say I’d had over 15 starts in the Camperdown Cup and I was lucky enough to win three or four,” he said.
“It’s a great little track and I’ve seen the status of the day and format of the day change a few times – the current format is spot on and I’m sure we’ll have another great crowd.”
