Seven Country Fire Authority units attended at the blaze on North Gums Road, about four kilometres east of the intersection with the Woolsthorpe Road.
Earlier: A GRASS fire has been reported to have started east of Penshurst.
The fire is at North Gums Road about four kilometres east of the intersection with the Woolsthorpe Road.
It was listed on the emergencyvic.info website at 8.34am.
Country Fire Authority units are understood to be on the way.
