Playing numbers were two up on last year’s event, with a 29-strong field again dominated by travellers.
Warrnambool Croquet Club president Barbara McKean was thrilled with the turnout.
“We’re very pleased. It’s a big commitment but it’s something we’re very happy to have,” she said.
"People have to travel, and book acommodation and the cost can be quite high to play. So we’re very happy people still love to come play with us.
“We’ve got a couple there who travelled from Sale, and there’s a few who have come across from Naracoorte. It’s been fantastic.”
Bendigo man Roger Bird took out the division one crown, defeating Geelong’s Bob Roycroft in a tense final match to clinch the victory.
McKean said there was a high standard of competition across the three-day tournament and that the final match typified the strength of play.
