HAVE a hit at one of Warrnambool’s favourite summer activities –the hole-in-one golf from 10am daily. The Warrnambool East Rotary Club fundraiser is on at Viaduct Road until January 25 with the qualifiers participating in a major shoot out to win a car on January 26.

Ancestral Memories is a major exhibition of prints by south-west Victorian artist Dr Marion Manifold. In it Dr Manifold explores genetic memories including inherited family memories of wars, displacement, migration and settlement and more recent memories gained through living history and being immersed in the lives and belongings of former women of the Manifold family. It’s on daily at the Warrnambool Art Gallery from 10am to 5pm until February 11.

Pet lovers will unite in Port Fairy on Thursday at the paws appreciation day. The event includes vet presentations, pet grooming, products and a pet parade with prizes on the village green from 9am to 3.30pm.

Immerse yourself in many techniques and mediums at a mono-printing workshop in Warrnambool on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm. This is a great way to produce unique papers to use for future projects such as card making or wrapping paper. Learn about Warrnambool’s past on a walking tour around the city on Thursday. Meet at the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village car park at 6.30pm. 

Come and Try Fishing at Fishcare’s Summer Series along Warrnambool’s Merri River (near South Warrnambool Kindergarten) on Friday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Gear and bait are supplied. To book go to fishcare.org.au. All children must be supervised by an adult.

Try your hand at snorkelling with Daktari Surf at Warrnambool’s Stingray Bay at 9am Friday or have fun at a novelty games day at Jetty Flat, Price Street from 10am to 1pm on Friday as part of BeachFest. Bookings are required for snorkelling on 5562 4006.

Port Fairy will host a Color Run on Friday. Participants will complete a five lap circuit of Russell Clark Reserve with activities starting from 5.30pm. Tickets are limited and available online at eventbrite.com

The Shipwreck Coast Motocross Open is on Saturday and Sunday. This event sees motocross riders affiliated with Motorcycling Australia compete at Lake Gillear, Buckleys Road, Allansford. Warrnambool’s Summer Night Markets continue on Friday and feature makers, bakers, creators, artists, live music and much more. Choose from an array of foods, complemented by a boutique beer or wine at Lake Pertobe from 4.30pm.

Thousands of motor enthusiasts are expected to head along to the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday at Warrnambool’s Flying Horse Bar and Brewery carpark from 10am to 12pm. 

Relax and unwind with yoga while overlooking the beach at the Warrnambool Surf Lifesaving Club on Saturday at 9am. Cost is $15 and all equipment is supplied. It’s followed by beach volleyball from 11am to 3pm in front of McGennans Carpark in Warrnambool.

Learn contemporary watercolour and gouache techniques from artist Kate Price as a part of her exhibition Makeshift Spaces, Hospitable Places. Price will guide participants in the creation of their own works, discussing how she sources reference imagery, prepares paper and paints and experiments with various methods. Try out new materials or learn a different approach on Saturday from 10am while also having a glimpse into her working practice. Vintage engines, tractors, cars and trucks will be showcased on Saturday and Sunday at the Orford Vintage Rally. The event, at the Orford Sports Ground on Dicks Road, will also include a blade shearing competition, a tractor pull, live music and a ute muster. Gates open at 9am both days. 

Tour the graves of people featured in the Ghost Stories book to explore the unexpected circumstances surrounding their deaths. Meet at the Port Fairy Cemetery gates on Saturday at 4pm.

Watch homegrown comedians at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s RAW Comedy on Sunday. Warrnambool is hosting the only RAW Comedy heat outside Melbourne and Geelong, with budding comics getting the chance to win their way on stage at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The event, hosted by Dirty Angel Comedy will be held at The Loft on Sunday at 5pm, with Brisbane comedian Tim Hewitt in the hosting chair.
