Warrnambool is hosting the only RAW Comedy heat outside Melbourne and Geelong, with budding comics getting the chance to win their way on stage at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Last year’s winner Donna Read, who tied with Ben Gaylard for the top spot, said there was no other feeling like stepping on stage.
“There’s nothing better than making people laugh, that’s why it can get a bit addictive,” she said.
“You can go in with zero experience… It’s a very good audience and a good place to start off.”
After only performing a couple of gigs before, Ms Read’s RAW Comedy experience took her to Melbourne, something she says she never would have considered otherwise.
“It’s a really good opportunity,” she said. “You never know how far you’ll get.”
The event, hosted by Dirty Angel Comedy will be held at The Loft on Sunday at 5pm, with Brisbane comedian Tim Hewitt in the hosting chair.
