The 89-year-old woman had a fall in her Livingston Court home at 2am on Friday morning.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Warrnambool Base Hospital and returned home at 11am.
Detective Senior Constable Ashlea Witham, from the Warrnambool Criminal Investigation Unit, said the woman’s house and the offenders had gained access by forcing the back door.
She said $300 was stolen from the woman’s purse and the burglary had been very distressing for the woman.
Detective Senior Constable Witham said it was possible the offenders had targeted the house once they’d seen the woman leave in the ambulance.
She said if anyone witnessed anything suspicious or if anyone had any cameras operating in the vicinity of the burglary they should contact Warrnambool CIU on 5560 1153 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
