The South West TAFE chief executive said the 10 students doing a Certificate Three in Agriculture at the college were enjoying the challenge.
Those undertaking the 12-month agriculture certificate are doing apprenticeships on south-west farms and study at Glenormistion for six week-long residential stints during the course.
The course aims to provide a skilled workforce for the dairy and associated industries.
Mr Fidge said the students had completed two one-week blocks at the college and their employers were also enjoying providing on-the-job training for the students.
Mr Fidge said Glenormiston would also start a certificate in track riding early this year for those interested in working in the horse racing industry.
He said South West TAFE also hoped to offer a range of short courses at Glenormiston.
The college reopened last year for training after a four-year hiatus, with the courses offered to have strong ties to regional employers.
