TUESDAY: THIEVES have stolen a kitted out $40,000 Mitsubishi Triton after entering a Warrnambool double garage and finding keys.
Detective Senior Constable Ashlea Witham, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said the burglary and theft happened between 9pm Monday and 7am Tuesday at a Hotham Street address in Warrnambool.
"The offenders have entered a double garage at the rear of property which backs onto Patrick Lane," she said.
"They have entered through an access door, found the keys to the 2009 charcoal coloured Mitsubishi Triton which is fitted with a canopy and roof racks.
"The roof racks are holding two kayaks - one green and one blue. The Triton has distinctive driving lights and a Wanderer camping awning.
Detective Senior Constable Witham said a Stihl chainsaw and 40-litre Sterling brand camping fridge were also stolen from the garage when the Triton was driven off.
"Total value of the goods stolen would be more than $40,000," she said.
"This offence continues a series of burglaries and theft of vehicles in the Warrnambool police service area.
"People need to be aware to lock and secure their vehicles and keys.
“Don't leave your keys in garages which allows offenders easy access to vehicles and the opportunity to steal them," she said.
Anyone with information about the Mitsubishi Triton is requested to contact the Warrnambool police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Last week three vehicles were stolen in Warrnambool overnight on Thursday after thieves gained access to keys.
Two utes are still missing while a Holden Commodore Omega sedan was recovered, but damaged, on Monday near Cressy.
