Blue fin tuna the big winners in Day 4 of Fishing Classic

Fishing fanatics of various ages had tight lines all round on Monday, as they gathered at the Breakwater precinct for the weighing of their catch.

At the mid point of the annual Shipwreck Coast Fishing Classic, tension was high as hauls of shark, tuna, mullet, whiting, flathead and snapper all competed for the title of big fish.

Confident fishing enthusiasts Kirkstall couple Jan and Anne-Marie Oosthuizen took top honours with their gummy shark and blue fin tuna catches, while Warrnambool’s Zeth Flook was happy just fishing for a compliment during his catch and release of a 40cm Hopkins River brim.

Weigh-in is at 7pm nightly until January 13. Top prize is a boat and trailer package.
