The man they selected, Paul Walker, would end up being the association’s best player across the tournament.
Walker made 207 runs for the undefeated WDCA and took 3-30 in its last match against Hamilton District Cricket Association.
Walker was playing in his first over-40s country week team.
He said he enjoyed the opportunity.
“It was excellent to be involved in the team and it was just a lot of fun,” he said.
“It was good to get out there and have a hit with a few of the older blokes and I was able to get a few runs and take a few wickets, which was good.”
The WDCA side first defeated South West by 59 runs, followed by a 24-run win against Grassmere, before finishing the weekend with a eight-wicket win against Hamilton.
Andrew Prisco was also a standout for WDCA over the weekend, taking six wickets and making 87 runs.
