Even the NSW Police got involved with Saturday's event, which Glenn McGrath described as a "celebration of family and hope" and thanked the community for getting behind a fantastic cause.

The day raises awareness and funds for the McGrath foundation, which has provided 119 breast care nurses who have offered free support to more than 60,000 families over the last 10 years.

This year, the foundation has set the ambitious target to raise $1.3 million. Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland believes that the target is achievable.

"The generosity of the cricket community has seen the foundation raise over $6.4 million in the last decade, and Cricket Australia is incredibly proud of its partnership with McGrath foundation and the example it provides through sport and charity," he said.

100 police attending the ground today are wearing the iconic pink caps which have now become synonymous with the Pink Test.

"Most of us have been affected by cancer in some way," NSW Police Acting Commissioner David Hudson said. "To show our support and help raise awareness and funds, our officers are joining the bandwagon and wearing pink. "

The volunteer police officers were also donating their wages for the day, with an expected $80,000 to be donated to the foundation.

Superintendent Gavin Dengate says it's important for the NSW police to support initiatives such as the McGrath Foundation.

"The concept of police is about helping the community - of course there's crime - but at the forefront, It's about helping the community."

Similar to the first and second day of the test, Jane McGrath day is another sell-out with a crowd of up to 45,000 expected attend.

Spectators have endured the immense 37-degree heat to not only enjoy the cricket, but to also be part of what has become an annual tradition at the SCG.

"Thanks to everyone for getting into the spirit and behind a great cause," SCG Trust chief executive Jamie Barkley said. "10 years ago, it was an important and very easy decision for us [the SCG trust] to honour Jane McGrath."

Even the Barmy Army - who for years were tormented by Glenn McGrath on the cricket field - decided to put aside their differences and support the cause by wearing pink and selling commemorative t-shirts in support of the McGrath foundation.

"The support just blows me away. When I was a young boy, you didn't want pink anyway near you. Now, the SCG is in a sea of pink and if you're not wearing pink, you feel a bit out of place," Glenn McGrath said.

"I said at the start, if we can help just one family, it will be worth it. Now, we have 119 nurses helping 60,000 families."

As is tradition, the iconic Ladies Stand has been renamed for the day to the Jane McGrath Stand. To celebrate the day's 10th anniversary, the McGrath foundation hosted for the first time a Pink Picnic at the nearby Allianz Stadium over the lunch break. Unfortunately due to the heat, the picnic had less attendance than was expected.
