Koroit’s Fletcher Cozens carried his bat to finish on 107 not out, he was joined in making a hundred runs by Blues skipper Theo Opperman, who made 100 before being run out. 

Opperman was the first to bring up his century before Cozens closely followed, but both were proud to get their first centuries of representative cricket together.

“It was the best feeling to share my first century, with him and he batted awesome,” Opperman said. 

Cousins echoed Opperman’s sentiments.

“It felt pretty good, to get it with the skipper, it was a really good captains knock,” Cozens said.

“It felt good to be batting with the captain and a having a really good partnership going.”

Warrnambool scored 253 after 45 overs and sent West Wimmera in to bat and bowled them all out for 78 after 35 overs. 

Warrnambool Gold was unable to continue their strong start to country week, losing by 83 runs to Hamilton who made 187 off the back of a half-century from Jacob Hill. 

South West were able to chase down Colac’s 144, with Oliver Mahncke top scoring with 90 and Tanner Fratantaro taking 3 for 13. 

South West coach Andy Casson praised Mahncke for his efforts.

“He got in himself in early and batted for at least 40 of the 45 overs,” he said.

“He played no false shots and it was just a good batting innings from him.”
