Drake started the day off with a close loss, going down in his under 16 match in straight sets against Wihan Van Der Merwe.
He returned later in the day to bounce back with a win in his third AMT qualification match against Darcy Nicholls (6-4, 7-5) to progress into Friday’s main draw of the AMT.
Drake fought back from 4-1 down early to progress.
“I felt pretty good on the court today,” he said.
“I’m playing consistent tennis at the moment and I was able to win in a tight match.
“I enjoy the AMT, they hit the ball harder and I get a lot of confidence out of playing at this level.”
Harry Boyd was able to progress through both of his games, while Greta Dabizzi also won. Tom Gedye was knocked out in straight sets, going down 6-2 6-0.
