The all-rounder will skipper Jason Mungean’s outfit at the Under 17 Country Week in Warrnambool next week, marking his “seventh or eighth” berth at the event.
Bandara, a Russells Creek player who plies his trade with Victorian Premier Cricket powerhouse Melbourne, said he was relishing the chance to skipper the side.
“It’s pretty fun because I don't get to see the Warrnambool boys that often,” he said.
“It’s a serious level but we go out, try as hard as we can and just try to win.
“I’ve played four or five games at Melbourne but I’ve been on a compulsory school camp for the last month, so I haven’t really played.
“The season starts here for me.”
The son of Dennington and Russells Creek great Jayaweera said country week provided a strong build up to Western Waves cricket.
“When you go that level, it gets pretty serious,” Bandara said.
