McCluggage, 19, is relaxing in Warrnambool after the first half of the Lions’ 2018 preseason. He was invited to play with south-west golf club champions on Wednesday.
The young Lion was happy to have a go at nailing a hole in one.
“I have been playing a lot of golf lately, so I thought I would give it a crack,” he said.
“It’s good to have this here for everyone that is in the area and people need to come down and have a crack.
“People are always coming down here and it’s good to try and win yourself a prize and there is actually a fair few down here at the moment, so that is exciting.”
Rotary Club member Peter Hasell said while it’s great to have other sporting code stars testing their golfing abilities, everyone should have a go.
“I think its a fun thing to do, it’s an alternative to going and walking around the golf course,” he said.
“You can come down with your mates and have a personal challenge against each other, while helping a good cause.”
There was lots of support on Tuesday, with the Rotary Club recording a 10 per cent increase on previous Boxing Day revenues.
“There was a steady attendance all day long, the hitting bays were almost always full, which is a good sign,” Hasell said.
