Grade three and four students from Koroit and District Primary School and Warrnambool East Primary School came together to hear from Zoos Victoria educators about the environment, before helping with a clean-up and taking part in activities.
Warrnambool East Primary School science specialist teacher Kerry McCarthy said a Deakin University, Warrnambool, researcher had come out to talk to the students about the spill of millions of nurdles, or plastic pellets, onto south-west beaches.
The morning had a focus on the effects of pollution on marine environments.
