The committee behind the Port Fairy Winter Weekends program has received a folk festival community grant of $4545 for its Bathed in Light project.
The Port Fairy Film Society has also been a big winner through the grants round with $5000 to assist with its sound system upgrade.
St Patrick’s Primary School Port Fairy won $1250 for choir shirts and the Port Fairy Football Netball Club $1650 for its annual fun run.
The grants also extended outside Port Fairy with the Koroit Irish Festival receiving $2500 for promotion of Irish dance while St Brigid’s in Crossley will get $4100 to install electricity to the choir area.
Hawkesdale P12 College receives $1000 towards the development of LED lighting technology in its performance arts centre and $1694 goes to St Patrick’s Primary School Koroit for the purchase of drums for its drumming for health program.
Folk festival treasurer Bernie Waixel heads a community grants sub-committee which makes funding allocations two times a year. The first round of the grants this year was in May.
