The Port Fairy couple have donated a bluestone seat which spells out ‘Liebig’.
It has been placed at the corner of Liebig Street and Raglan Parade, adjacent to McDonald’s.
It’s our little version of what we think is practical street art and furniture.
- Bamstone director Michael Steel
Mr Steel said the seat was a functional piece.
“I had this idea to make the word Liebig and gift it to the city,” he said.
“It’s our little version of what we think is practical street art and furniture.”
Mr Steel said in the future he would love to see seats on other street corners.
“We might have a ‘Koroit’ or a ‘Timor’,” he said.
He said the seat was made all in one piece, with tests carried out on the letters before the final product was made.
“It takes a couple of weeks to make,” he said.
The eye-catching art piece is not the only Bamstone work around the south-west.
Mr Steel said his company had also created the Fiddler’s Green bluestone seat for the Port Fairy green.
Bluestone seats have also been installed on Port Fairy’s East Beach for the public to sit on.
