Meg Reuel, Anna Barker, Rithika Josy and Samara Howie have all trimmed their long locks for a good cause.
The students had their hair cut by hairdresser Leeona Reuel in front of a big crowd at the school on Friday.
The new hair style is a big change for the girls who have all always had long hair.
The big trim was to raise money for the Hair with Heart initiative.
Under the Hair with Heart guidelines, those wishing to raise funds for the cause by cutting their hair are required to cut off at least 30cm in length. The four Warrnambool College girls cut off 35cm each with the hair now on its way to Hair with Heart where it will be used to make wigs for children with cancer.
The idea for the collective hair cut came as part of the girl’s leadership roles in their houses at the school.
Meg Reuel said the girls were thrilled with the result.
“It is good to know we have done something to help other people, that always feels good,” she said.
“It was a bit nerve-racking getting our hair cut, but we are all happy with our new short hair and we will be googling hairstyles for short hair for the summer.”
