The move was recommended under a wide-reaching AFL Western District junior football review last month.
It would see Hampden clubs field under 18 teams instead of their current 18.5 grade, while Warrnambool and District Football Netball League outfits would move up from under 17.5s to under 18s.
Hampden league clubs signed off on a letter requesting the change be postponed in a bid to ease the transition, with it being ticked off at the top body’s annual general meeting on Monday.
Clubs also sought clarity surrounding other recommendations in the review – including caps on junior lists – and the wording of several looming changes.
Meanwhile, the Hampden league posted an operating loss of $11,106 largely due to an $28,784 drop in sponsorship.
Its finals series, however, was a marked success, with strong crowd numbers forcing a $19,703 increase in overall revenue.
