Refurbishments to the Island Park facility were officially opened on Friday with Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Anita Rank hoping the new additions would take the township’s sporting achievements from a state to a national level.
“The neighbouring rejuvenated tennis and netball clubrooms have taken this precinct to the 21st century with a purpose-built space which will assist to attract more competitors to the precinct,” she said. “Attracting more events and higher usage is good news for the town and the regional economy.”
Major works included $800,000 worth of refurbishments to the town’s Olympic swimming pool and $660,000 spent on the redevelopment of the Casterton Sandford Football Netball Club and Casterton Tennis Club.
