The club has donated $3000 to Moyne Health Services (MHS) for the purchase of a new recumbent bike to be used in the community health centre gym.
Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club member Henry Toller-Bond said the idea for the bike came about after a discussion between club member Geoff Scott and gym coordinator Julie Hall.
“The Port Fairy Belfast Lions Club is very pleased to be able to assist in the purchase of this item to be used by members of the Port Fairy and district community,” he said.
Mr Toller-Bond said the donation had come from club fundraising activities including the cray fish spinning wheel, wood raffles and the Easter Fair.
MHS manager of community health services Jane Weir thanked the Lions club for its contribution.
“The amount of community support we receive is amazing,” she said.
“Donations like this allow us to upgrade our equipment when it is needed. The gym is well-used and an important part of the service we offer.”
