McLean, who was at Ascot in Perth in his role as stable foreman for Darren Weir overseeing Black Heart Bart before his run in the $1million Kingston Town Classic watched Tried And Tired’s victory on the closed circuit televisions on-course.
“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to Brad and my staff back home,” McLean said. “Brad’s put a lot of time into Tried and Tired.
“We’ve done lots of beach work with him and that’s been a big part of his success. He’s had a few niggling issues but he was on top of his game on Saturday. He worked well at Terang on Tuesday but he’s always a good track worker.
“We may now aim Tried And Tired at the Standish Handicap at Flemington on New Years Day.”
