Warrnambool’s famous Silver Ball will be silver. Its currrent yellow colour is just an undercoat.
Painters hope to apply the shiny silver top coat to the Warrnambool icon early next week.
Save the Silver Ball campaigner Julie Eagles said painting contractors had encountered lots of wet weather since embarking upon the ball’s refurbishment late last month but expected to finish the job at the end of next week.
The ball will also be permanently adorned with decorative lights that will be switched on at 9pm on Wednesday, December 20.
People are encouraged to visit the Fletcher Jones Gardens for the switching on ceremony and live music will be provided.
