Warrnambool tennis player Tom Gedye has been named in the Tennis Victoria under 13 team to play in the 2018 Australia Made Fed Cup Foundation Interstate Challenge in Adelaide.

The competition is to be played in January and the prestigious teams event will showcase the best regional under 13 players representing their state.

”Its going to be a long trip,” Gedye said.

“It will be my first time on a Victorian team and on a trip interstate which is cool.

“I just want to go there and play my best and hopefully get away with a few wins under my belt.”

Gedye’s coach Joe Hakimi gave him nothing but praise.

“Tom lives on the court, he practically lives here which is good,” Hakimi said.

“He lives and breathes tennis and trains hard, so he deserves to be selected in the team.

“I hope he does really well in Adelaide and comes back with some wins and confidence.

“This is just a step on what is hopefully a long journey.”
