A WYNDHAM man who stole from shops in Hamilton and Nhill has been placed on a corrections order after spending 18 days in custody.

Casey Lee Hapeta, 35, of Arrowhead Street, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to 15 charges mostly relating to thefts from shops.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said Hapeta had ben invovled in an epidemic of offending when he just went from store to store stealing.
Hapeta admitted he didn't pay for anything.
"I understand I did the wrong thing," he said.
"I need medical and psychological support. I've got four young kids and this is not a good look, being incarcerated. I'll try and do everything I'm ordered," he said.
Hapeta was convicted and placed on a 12-month community corrections order with the conditions he do 120 hours of community work as well as assessment, treatment and programs for alcohol and drugs and to reduce the chances of offending again.
