More than 100 guests joined 2017 graduates at Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre last week to mark the end of the year-long leadership program.
The 15 diverse program participants were drawn from across the Great South Coast region and from a variety of professional backgrounds.
Leadership Great South Coast chair Jill Parker said graduates would be making an impact across the region.
“We now have more than 90 Leadership Great South Coast alumni across our region,” she said.
Over the course of the year, the program’s participants devised and developed four projects – identifing the needs of those caring for people with mental illness and to produce a resource that communicates those needs; a campaign to reduce the use of single-use coffee cups; a media campaign and art installation to raise awareness of the stories and impacts of migrants living in our community; and a project to create a unique art installation at the Koroit railway station.
Leadership Great South Coast executive officer Amanda Hennessy said each one of these projects was “incredibly thoughtful”.
“They have been carefully designed and managed and all will have real social and economic impacts,” she said.
