Cr Doukas said he always had people pushing him to go for the position of mayor.
“There’s a lot of things in the pipeline I’ve taken a personal interest in and I would like to see them come to fruition,” he said.
Cr Doukas, who was also mayor in 2013, said he hadn’t spoken to other councillors about their support.
Cr Wolfe, who first joined Moyne Shire Council in 2009, has never been mayor before, but he said the timing was right.
“It’s probably something I’ve always considered, but I’ve had other commitments with football,” he said.
“I’ve got the opportunity now with time management to take on the role.”
Councillors Colin Ryan, Jill Parker, Jordan Lockett and Daniel Meade all confirmed they would not be standing.
Cr Lockett said he was keen to pick up the role of deputy mayor for the second year in a row, with highlights of his first year including liaising with state MPs.
