Shane Carlin, 24, of Lava Street, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court this week after being caught with a range of drugs and illicit substances.
His sentencing was deferred until March 2 next year.
In the meantime he was released on bail, will be living at a rehab centre in Melbourne until mid next month and then restarts his existing corrections order involving community work, treatment, rehab and programs.
His girlfriend Jenelle Dunlop, 22, of Carlyle Court, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty to possessing drugs, prescription medication and a knife.
She was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
Magistrate Peter Mellas noted that Carlin had already spent 72 days in custody after being charged with 14 offences including trafficking ice and a number of charges of possessing illicit substances such as ice, cannabis, steroids, Viagra and prescription medication as well as possessing a weapon.
The trafficking and some other charges were withdrawn by police even though he was found with almost seven grams of ice with a potential street value of about $5000.
Mr Mellas said drugs were Carlin’s problem and had been for a number of years.
He said Carlin had dragged his girlfriend into the offending but she had a chance to escape his influence now she was moving back to Perth with the support of her family.
The magistrate said it was a destructive relationship and Carlin was very close to being engaged in serious criminal conduct.
He questioned where the defendant got the cash to buy significant amounts of drugs.
Mr Mellas warned Carlin that sentencing would be very different in March if he failed to comply with the conditions of his CCO.
Carlin plans to live with an uncle in South Melbourne after he finishes rehab.
Police alleged that at 12.10am on August 16 patrolling officers saw a silver Mazda heading north on Aberline Road.
Officers intercepted the vehicle driven by Dunlop in Carlyle Court.
Carlin attempted to conceal something in his left hand, became angry and was placed in handcuffs.
A small metal tin containing 1.5 grams of cannabis was found in a pants pocket.
In his jacket was 12.29g of cannabis, just over one gram of crushed tablets believed to be prescription medication, a clear plastic bag containing 6.86g of ice, 20 small plastic bags, a Samsung mobile phone that had been reset and a mini iPad.
In the Mazda there was a vile of steroids, another glass vile, almost two grams of cannabis, a round plastic container holding nine grams of cannabis and one tablet of prescription medication as well as two used ice pipes and other small amounts of cannabis and ice as well as a 30cm knife.
A further search at the police station located a tablet of Viagra in Carlin's wallet.
