Dylan Kelly, 23, of Wanstead Street, previously unsuccessfully applied for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court.
He appeared back in court on Thursday for a contest mention hearing.
Mr Kelly has been charged with 11 offences including unlawful imprisonment, recklessly causing injury, committing offences while on bail, breaching bail possessing the proceeds of crime and two counts each of unlawful assault and threatening to inflict serious injury.
An Office Of Corrections report indicated Mr Kelly had recently followed his usual pattern of being palced on an order, disengaging, reoffending and spending time in custody.
Magistrate Noreen Toohey said Mr Kelly has had a long-term drug issue and until he deals with that problem he would make no progress.
Solicitor Xavier Farrelly said his client denied he had committed any physical violence.
Mr Kelly has served 40 days in custody.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Mick Aitken admitted that some of the witnesses were not keen to give statements to police or be involved in a contested court case.
In a sentencing indication Ms Toohey said she would impose a jail sentence to be followed by another CCO, but she was not confident Mr Kelly would successfully complete such an order.
She adjourned the case for further hearing on December 7.
It's expected there will be extensive discussions between the policer and Mr Kelly's solicitor.
