As part of the second phase of their migrant story series, the group of four are hoping to add a mural to a prominent city landmark.
While details are not yet confirmed, the preferred project site is the west Warrnambool water tower in Victoria Park.
Group spokesperson Amanda Wearne said they hoped businesses working with skilled migrants would help with the cost of the project.
“We’re aiming for $35,000 with $12,000 already raised,” she said. “Funds raised will create a memorable piece of large scale artwork that celebrates how migrants have enriched our community, a positive addition our community can be proud of.
“There are several successful examples of how public art can galvanise a community, promote pride, acceptance and solidarity with the Ngatanwarr Mural being a local example.”
The group completed a six-week series of migrant stories documenting the city’s journey of inclusion featuring in The Standard’s Saturday editions.
