She launched her new designer handbag rental site, called We are Higher on Monday, and the 31 year-old from Warrnambool is hoping fashion lovers will rethink how they define luxury and affordability in their accessorising.
The owner of more than 28 designer handbags, the South West Healthcare employee is offering women the opportunity to hire clutches, wallets, totes and bags sourced from Melbourne and overseas boutiques.
“Australian women are smart, stylish and love experiencing life to the fullest,” she said. “This is the modern way to have coveted designer pieces that are empowering, thrilling and fun. All without the commitments of time and money.”
Ms Kelson said her business was the product of a conversation between friends.
“The idea came from discussions with friends about the experience economy booming in Australia,” she said. “Now more than ever woman have access to what they want and when they want it.
“We wanted to take that idea further and provide the most luxurious type of this experience, that being designer handbags.
“We really believe women get a heightened sense of self expression via fashion and it’s fun, It helps women feel self-confident and beautiful.”
Warrnambool fashion enthusiast Emily Ivanecky became one of We are Higher’s first clients when she rented a designer handbag for her sister’s wedding in October.
The 22 year-old has since become an advocate for the business, regularly posting photos of the designer handbags on social media.
“I love luxury,” she said. “It makes me feel ten times better. You’re dressed better, your outfit looks better and you feel fancy for a night.”
