The old asphalt courts have been replaced by a new laykold acrylic surface which will be able to be played on from Monday, once the court surface has cured.
Secretary Alison Zehir said despite the works taking a year longer than originally planned, it was great to have them finished in time for summer. “It’s incredible,” Mrs Zehir said. “It makes a big difference in a town this size to have courts that are playable. It will be really good.”
Mrs Zahir hopes it will encourage some of the club’s 600 members to return for a regular hit. The courts will be used for cardio tennis sessions, coaching and lessons and will be available for hire. She thanked the Gwen and Edna Jones and the Ray and Joyce Uebergang foundations, Tennis Victoria, Bendigo Bank and Pacific Hydro for grants which made the works possible.
