The Toolern Vale driver emerged unscathed from a messy race, with four dramatic crashes eliminating seven drivers.
Warrnambool drivers Darren Mollenoyux, Tim Rankin, Peter Doukas and Tim Van Ginneken all failed to finish after being caught in crashes.
But Murcott, who last lifted the crown in 2006, fended off advances from Warrnambool duo Jamie Veal and Corey McCullagh to clinch victory.
“It’s an important race for us, because when you look at some of the names you see there is a fair bit of prestige,” he said.
“I tried for so long to win the first one, and it took me 11 years to win the next one.
“It’s really pleasing for us.”
The 46-year-old said a fast start was “key”.
“Getting the lead straight away was important. The track was really tricky.
“It was so fast around the bottom so passing cars was going to be difficult. Getting the lead first up was a good start for us and it went from there.”
Murcott said he was set for a two-week spell before preparation for the World Series Sprintcars circuit.
“We’ll do the full tour around the country,” he said.
“We’ve got a couple of weeks to get ready.”
